'Revolting' waitress is found guilty of performing sex act on her boyfriend at BBC Radio 2 Hyde Park concert
- Lisanne Beck, 47, performed sex act on Simon Murphy, 48, at concert
- Both were convicted of outraging public decency at Old Bailey today
- The couple were fined £1,000 and judge branded their behaviour 'revolting'
- Beck previously denied charge, claiming she was trying to wake partner up
Convicted: Lisanne Beck, 47, and her lover Simon Murphy, 48, were found guilty of outraging public decency at the Old Bailey today
A waitress and her gardener boyfriend who were caught indulging in a sex act during a family concert escaped jail today but were ordered to pay £5,500 in fines and legal costs.
Lisanne Beck, 47, and her lover Simon Murphy, 48, were branded 'revolting' as they were each fined £1,000 and told they needed to be 'taught a lesson' by Judge Charles Wide at the Old Bailey.
Handing down the sentence following their conviction for outraging public decency, the judge slammed them for the sex act - which may have been seen by children.
He said: 'There was no doubt about what you were doing and you both must have known what you were doing and you persisted in the accounts that you, Murphy, gave in interview and you Beck during trial.
'There is no mitigation for you in this taking a long time [to come to court]. You can hardly complain about stress and strain when you could have admitted to it.
'This was a particularly revolting piece of behaviour in public where large numbers of people were there to see.
'For all you knew there may have been children there who saw what you were both up to, you were both intoxicated and that is not a mitigating factor, that is an aggravating factor.
'I think you both need to be taught a lesson by being fined... there will be a fine of £1,000 for each that will be paid by November 13 this year. There will be imprisonment in default.'
He added: 'I hope no court sees either of you again' before ordering ordering the pair to share prosecution costs of £3,500.
The incident took place on September 14 last year as Paloma Faith entertained crowds at the Radio 2 concert.
Angry parents were forced to shield their children's eyes, while one woman tried to intervene by pouring water over the pair.
The Old Bailey was shown footage of Beck, wearing a red vest top and white shorts, moving her head and hand towards Murphy's groin.
Denied charges: Beck denied performing a sex act on Murphy in the middle of Hyde Park during a Radio 2 concert last year, claiming she was actually trying to wake him up
'I was shocked, it was a family event and the middle of the day with thousands of people there, this was not what you would regard as reasonable behaviour in public', said Mike Holden, a member of the public who witnessed the alleged incident.
'There was a significant amount of embarrassment, a significant amount of trying to avert attention with regard to younger people.
'There was one lady who actually came and slapped the lady on the back to try and bring her to her senses, remind her where she was and what she was doing.
'The general feeling around was embarrassment and shock, that this sort of thing should happen in front of us in Hyde Park.'
The BBC concert, which attracted a crowd of 50,000, was watched by 1.2 million people on TV and featured acts including Jeff Lynne's ELO, Chrissie Hynde, Blondie and Billy Ocean.
Beck, a silver service waitress who has worked at Lord's Cricket Ground, and gardener Murphy had drunk cans of cider and vodka and Coke during the day.
They were thrown out of the festival when shocked audience members complained about their behaviour.

When she was arrested, Beck told police: 'The rules must be different in England.'
The couple, who have been together for two-and-a-half years, denied the allegations, claiming it would have been 'ridiculous' to perform a sex act in public.
'I'm a mature person, not a crazy teenager', Beck told the court.
'I consider us to be a mature couple, not people interested in doing anything outrageous and stupid, things that I've been accused of.'
She claimed the video showed her trying to shake her partner awake so she could help him to go to the toilet.
Charles Durrant, defending Beck, said she had offered to accept a caution once legal proceedings had begun, but said the prosecution did not accept that.

However, the Judge rejected the submission, saying: 'She could have pleaded guilty months and months ago and she hasn't.'
He added of her defence: 'She didn't admit what we could all see on the video she was doing.'
The court heard Beck earns £120 as a waitress, while Murphy earns £1200 a month as a gardener but could now risk losing his job.
Judge Wide gave the pair until November 13 to pay the fines or face a spell behind bars in default.
Beck, who was born in Britain, but spent 20 years in Australia, and Murphy attended the Radio festival, in Hyde Park, on September 14 last year.
'This was an act far beyond the bounds of public decency, and one that outraged public decency', said prosecutor Tom Cleeve.
'They were surrounded as you might expect by other people, but only some saw when was going on.
'The Crown says this was an act that outraged public decency.'
Murphy refused to give evidence during the trial, arguing that he had been asleep during the incident and even if a sex act had taken place it was 'cringy' rather than outrageous.
However, in his police interview he said: 'It may have happened to someone else but it didn't happen to me or Lisanne.
'She didn't do that to anyone else or myself.
'That was not performed on me and Lisanne didn't perform it on anyone else, she was with me the whole time and I would have noticed if she had.
'I think it's bizarre if she had wanted to do that in the middle of a park with other people sitting within a few feet of us.
'It's a case of mistaken identity because it was not me.
'I think it's a completely bizarre accusation that would happen in the middle of a crowd in the centre of Hyde Park.'
