Iron bar men hit Gulu woman

Barely a month after the death of Raphael Obura, the son of Prison Commissioner Augustine Obura, who was clobbered to death by thugs, another woman has been attacked.
Ms Alice Akot, 35, a health worker with Reproductive Health Uganda, was last Thursday morning hit by an unknown attackers as she walked to work.
The incident happened at about 6am in Kirombe village, Layibi Division in Gulu Municipality.
Ms Akot was later rushed to Lacor Hospital in critical condition.
Ms Akot said the thugs hit her unconscious and fled with her handbag, purse, and phone .

Lat month, Mr Raphael Obura, 25, was found dead 0n Cemetery Road in Nakasero Parish, Pece Division, after thugs hit him .
In March this year, Florence Lanyero, 39, a resident of Pece Vanguard Parish in Pece Division, was stabbed in the back by thugs as she went to attend Sunday prayers.
In February, police in Gulu District rounded up 72 people in an operation to net suspected iron bar men.
Meanwhile, three people from the same family are reported to have died after eating poisoned food in Amuru District.
The incident happened at Bibia West Parish, Atiak Sub-county in Amuru district on Wednesday evening.
The victims were identified as Solomon Komakech, Ms Betty Atto and Cesario Akello.
Residents say the death could have been as a result of land wrangles because one person who happened to be the custodian of the land had warned Akello's mother three times to vacate the land .
