What do you make of this story? Is gay-bashing now acceptable
behaviour in schools? How did Teddy Mulundwa escape being lynched
during his recent sex tourist stop-over in Uganda? Is Reverend
Lokodo's teaching taking root among the young? What does Kayibanda say
about this?

Ntare School, one of the most respected education institutions in the
country was on Wednesday closed and students sent home over acts of
homosexuality.
Following a violent strike that went on through Tuesday night, all
students except candidate classes were sent home by the school
administration with help from Mbarara Police.
Students went on rampage on Tuesday night, following information that
two of their own were notorious homosexuals.
In a discreet move, the said students were nabbed by their colleagues
"pants down" over the weekend.
Teachers however, and other administrators came in time to save the
two from being lynched. They also cautioned the students to keep the
matter secret for the school's reputation.
All Students except candidates were sent back home
This however did not go well with the student community, who on
Wednesday night launched a violent strike after night studies.
Police which was immediately called in used teargas, fired live
bullets and finally managed to restore normalcy at around 3:00am,
forcing all students back into their dormitories, according to the
Western Region Police Field Force Unit OC Richard Tamale.
The students told journalists later in the morning that they were
angered by the administration which refused to punish the gay
students.
One of the students whose names we conceal, told ChimpReports that
administrators cautioned them not to say a thing about the cause of
the strike so as to protect the reputation of the biggest school in
the western region.
Anti riot police remained in guard of the school all Wednesday
Noticing signs of recurrence of the violence, the Mbarara District
Police Commander Jaffar Magezi together with the administrators
decided to send students home.
Jimmy Turyagyenda, the School head teacher, when tasked by reporters
to explain what happened, he was no so revealing:
"It was nothing much, the students were trying to carry out mob
justice on one of their friends whom they accused of theft. He was
caught with stolen uniforms and sweaters."
Ntare School Headteacher Jimmy Turyagyenda speaking to reporters in his office
"A big institution as we are; it is a shame, but we have no choice.
All students were asked to return home. We will remain with only the
candidates who are currently doing their MOCKS."
The head teacher added that the suspended classes will come back on
Friday 10th to pick their end of term reports.
