{UAH} THREE REASON WHY FEDERALISM WILL QUICKLY TAKE ROOT!
Forum;
Three main reason why i believe federalism will quickly grow roots once given a chance.
a) Ugandans are very protective of their tribes than generally thought. In the past, a Munyoro would rather die than be heard speaking Runyoro in Buganda. This is due to the past crew cut that the ended up with when a bullied Buganda sought the help of the colonialist. But today, the Banyoro have found their voice and its getting ever louder signifying that their is still something to be proud of being a Munyoro. Acholi and the Luo speakers also went through that phase during Amin's time. Speaking Acholi or Langi in urban area, at the time was not very trendy and safe, because the boys from West Nile would make one pay a price for it. currently, the situation is still the same but with remarked difference. People from all walks of life are beginning to find their voices and digging our cultural heritage even though they never had one of significance. Monarchy's that had died natural death are all being revived and given a new lease of life, again signifying pride in one's background and culture. In the long run, this significant find, and confidence, will mean that people will be hard pressed to protect this new identity and one way is through some form of autonomy.
b) The lack of opportunity due to hold on to power on the other hand will forced the people of Uganda to seek strength rather than fight among themselves. This realization will soon come to fruition as the tally of broken promises grow. This is beginning to dawn on Ugandans in general. Significantly however on those who sacrificed the most in the Luwero war for instance. This broken promises is taking toll on Buganda and soon or later, Buganda will change tactics, to look within themselves for strength. Past experiences of collusion has not yielded much. With all the maxim machine gun and Nyoro monarchy taking refuge in Lango, it has returned in modern age and fully functioning. Then the Luwero war, was another broken promise. This is going to force Buganda to scratch it's head until it bleeds solution, a workable and realisable solution from within.
c) Small is better! This is the global trend which is giving voices to minorities the world over, particularly those loud and determined enough. The gay minority, in some region have more rights than certain races. The black race activist are at new par with gay activist in America. They have stood their ground have forced the world to take note of them. Its working and the world over is becoming more accepting as the days go by. They are setting a trend for small minority right everywhere, not least the female minorities who longer want their genital ritualised. This trend is a positive one and it's going to give voices to those who do not want to be subjected to rule by one man.
In political arenas, federalism will first become the placebo to mitigate an all out destruction of what was, and in the case of Uganda, the govt of the day will soon have to act as voices for some form of autonomy from minority region begins to get louder and consistent or risk destroying what is currently Uganda. The placebo effect will see federalsim take root without the dreaded all out cessation.
