{UAH} Tribute: Al-Hajji Idi Amin. 12 Yrs Ago This Sunday 16th Aug.
Dear Members
This Sunday August 16th, it will be exactly 12 years since my late father left us.
We had a long prayer together that night. Indeed he left this world most peacefully.
We are grateful our late father was laid to rest in Islamic Holy land.
I repeat this because increasingly, many patriotic Ugandans continue to publicly voice their desire to see Amin offered a proper state reburial at home.
Your good intentions are heartfelt.
Our family offers regular prayers at the burial site for his soul and for our country.
We would like to ask Ugandans to simply spare a moment for our nation next Sunday. Could we reject tribalism, selfishness and the chronic corruption that is trying to hinder our country's development?
As we learn from past and present mistakes, why don't we use the lessons to build an even brighter future for the little children, and Ugandans yet to come? Why don't we prepare for them an even better Uganda? Why don't we allow a new generation the chance to start from a clean slate devoid of historical envies and anger which have stunted our nations politicians from reconciliation and political progress to this day.
Let the youth build the genuine democracy they seek, without being detained and beaten by fearful old politicians who think solely in terms of bush wars, fighting, yet we are already 15 years into a new millenium.
In an interview with the BBC in February 1999 from his home in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Amin said; "Now I am at peace. My only passion is Islam".
We hope you find peace within yourselves as well.
Our Islamic teachings say: "From God we are, and to him we will all return."
Whether Obote, Museveni, Amin or the Queen of England, we will all one day find ourselves at Almighty's gates seeking forgiveness.
Again Thank You! Don't forget...next Sunday.
Hussein Lumumba Amin.
Kampala, Uganda.
