{UAH} Unfulfilled promises: Nabilatuk warns on no vote over district
NAKAPIRIPIRIT. Residents of Nabilatuk Sub-county in Pian County, Nakapiripirit District, have threatened to support Opposition in the 2016 general election over what they termed as being denied a district status.
Speaking to Daily Monitor on Sunday, the residents claimed the President pledged to grant them Nabilatuk district, but it has been scraped off the list of new districts.
In Kotido, the residents said Mr Museveni had also pledged to elevate Kotido Town Council to a municipality but it does not feature among the five proposed towns.
"I think a decisive action needs to be taken by Karimojong because we are tired of being fooled," Mr Samuel Lotimong, a resident of Kotido, said.
Mr Lotimong said the region has been cheated in most of the government programmes.
Mr Timothy Lokol, a resident of Nabilatuk wondered "what new lie" President Museveni will tell them when he embarks on his countrywide campaign.
The Pian County MP, Mr Remigio Achia and his counterpart Mr Abrahams Lokii of Jie County in Kotido urged the residents to be calm, saying they were still engaging government on the issues.
"Even us we are not happy because the proposed list of municipalities did not reflect regional balance and several town councils have been left out," Mr Lokii said.
The lawmaker said the set standards for the creation of municipalities were compromised, adding that if the issue is not properly handled, it might call for withdrawal of the motion.
