Comrade Robukui,
A very interesting propramme on BBC World Service by Will Ross
comparing Kayibanda Museveni and Mobutu Sese Sseko. The two came from
crushing poverty stricken backgrounds and promised to live a lowly
life, in the case of Mobutu, buying plastic cups and locally woven
beds and mattresses from his village. Mobutu left a $30 million dollar
palace which sadly has now been looted and lies in ruins. Kayibanda is
still basking in a $50 million dollar palace, a far cry from the
ramshackled, doorless hut he visited his adoptive father Kaguta in
1986.
