{UAH} Alur king sacks entire cabinet

NEBBI. The king of Alur has sacked his cabinet following a power struggle among the ministers.
King Phillip Olarker Rauni III dissolved the entire cabinet including the prime minister, Dr Edwin Wathum, a lecturer at Kyambogo University, on Wednesday.
In a statement, Olarker said the dismissal took immediate effect and directed all the sacked ministers to hand over kingdom property and documents under their possession.
He said the kingdom was losing direction following the power struggle among the ministers.
Mr Bob Opio, the kingdom's attorney general, said the sacking had been long overdue and called for complete reorganisation of the Alur cultural institution.
Mr Emmy Kizito, the Zombo District chairperson, said the king should screen the sacked cabinet for suitable members to reappoint.
The police on Tuesday blocked a meeting by Alur cultural chiefs at Lei palace on Jukia hill, in Nebbi Town, after the sacked prime minister said it had been convened without his knowledge.
The king had called the meeting to address some of the issues that led to dissolution of his cabinet. Among the issues was power struggle among clan chiefs and ministers and the tea growing venture initiated by the kingdom but run into trouble over accountability.
