Kampala. President Museveni sent regional student leaders into thunderous laughter on Friday when he said he is helping Ugandans to be President.
"Some people say that being a President is my job, but that is not my job. I am only there to help you. It is a voluntary service that I am offering. My job is to be a cattle keeper," Mr Museveni told the regional student gathering at the International University of East Africa (IUEA) in Kampala.

Wrong perception?
He said it is wrong for Ugandans to think they employ him as President.
A volunteer is not paid a salary, but President Museveni is as per the Constitution. One time at a rally in eastern Uganda, President Museveni said he owns all the money in the country, while at another occasion, he said he has no other wealth other than his monthly salary of less than Shs4m and his cattle.
At the same gathering, Mr Museveni launched the Great Lakes Emerging Leaders Forum, a union that brings together student representatives and leaders from different universities in the region.
The forum was under the theme: "Safe guarding the future of Africa, consolidating the gains made" where the President reiterated that prosperity should be at the forefront of the union.
The students under the Great Lakes Students Union (GLSU) in return also gave Mr Museveni what they referred to as the "Julius Nyerere award", which they said was to honour him for following in the footsteps of the former Tanzanian president in promoting African integration .
Mr David Lewis, the chairperson of GLSU, said the union has inculcated the spirit of Pan-Africanism among the student leaders and representatives in the Great Lakes region.
The function was attended by students from all the Great Lakes countries.
In his speech, Justice Owiny Dollo, the chairman of board of trustees of the IUEA, applauded Mr Hussein Arui for founding the university that focuses on science and technology in line with the President's call for prioritisation of science.
