Presidential aspirant Amama Mbabazi has said that the act of threatening to block his rallies is breaking the law.

The electoral commission on Tuesday said Mbabazi should stop holding public rallies and end at only consultative meetings.

While speaking to Chimpreports on Wednesday morning as he set off for his next rally in Soroti, Mbabazi said that what they are doing is wrong.

He added, "I hope they won't keep that line because it is not helpful.""They should act in accordance with the law. Consultation is not limited to only town hall meetings but also public meetings," he said.

Police on Wednesday morning, locked hundreds of supporters of Mbabazi's supporters out of the Soroti Independence Square saying that they had received directives to have the meeting cancelled.

Media reports indicate that the organizers of the event who had paid for the venue were shocked to find posters of President Yoweri Museveni pinned all over.

The Electoral Commission believes Mbabazi has diverted from holding the constitutional consultative meetings to the illegal open campaigns.

Mbabazi however told us today that under the Public order management act, it's allowed for spontaneous crowds which no one has control over.

Meanwhile security remains tight in Soroti town as police and other sister security agencies comb the entire vicinity.

According to Mbabazi's media director Ms Josephine Mayanja Nkangi, there were also sights of military jets flying over Soroti town. She wondered whether or not an army drill had all of a sudden come up in the eastern town.

When asked to comment of heavy deployment ahead of his third rally in Soroti, the presidential hopeful said he is braced for war.

We also understand that the venue of the meeting has now been moved to Soroti Sports Ground where Mbabazi is expected shortly.
