New Orleans 2015 Recap & Summary Fellow UNAA Members and delegates: Welcome back from New Orleans and thank you so much for the kind words many of you have extended to the convention organizing team for their dedication and hard work. As we have done for the past two years, we shall be releasing a detailed convention report and financial statement in the coming weeks. UNAA New Orleans 2015 is now behind us, the Trade & Investment forum is done, the black or white dinner cruise is back in dock, we danced to the last song at the formal Gala dinner and the registration desk is now formally closed. What a blast we had and what fun we had rekindling old friendships and networking with new acquaintances. In more ways, UNAA New Orleans has also left its mark on us and elevated our expectations. UNAA's delegates deserve to be treated to orderly processes during a convention. And here are some of the results that will make you our delegates feel might proud to belong; - We were able to raise more money in sponsorship than in any single convention year in UNAA's 27 years of existence. I have no doubt that the new leadership will put these resources to good utilization for the benefit of UNAA members and well-wishers.
- The compliments we have received for introducing pre-registration and the touch-and-go check-in process relegates delays and missing names to an unacceptable past.
- Under the Stewardship of the highly engaging Dennis Matanda, the Trade and Investment Roundtable on Friday September 4th elevated UNAA's discussion panels to the highest international standards in form and substance. A formal and high quality details report on this day is planned.
- The organization and entertainment on the Dinner cruise was exceptional and flawless. Everyone was smartly dressed and excited, the buses were on time, boarding was a high class affair, the entertainers raised the roof and your dance moves tore up the carpet. The entertainers are so truly touched by the kudos from everyone.
- The use of technology to update delegates about the convention program was remarkable
- Elevating UNAA's profile to a level that attracted our mother country's most successful CEO's and companies to sponsor UNAA at level that exceeds the last 2 conventions combined is an achievement UNAA's delegates will be proud of.
- Attracting large numbers of delegates to the City of New Orleans for a festive and well organized convention that produced over 1,300 room nights at the Hyatt Regency, well in excess of UNAA's commitments.
- All the above and more - and all bills are paid - for three consecutive years now.
Looking ahead, we promise not to rest on our laurels and excellence remains our pursuit. The Financial performance reports will be out shortly on schedule - easier done when UNAA is above board (and water). UNAA Boston 2016 is next, the hotel contract is signed, the Dinner cruise contract is signed, down payments have been paid and early bird registration is open at www.unaa.org/convention The first time a new President is coming into office to find both contracts signed and deposits paid.
I hand over an association with an elevated organizational capacity. I congratulate UNAA President Monday Atigo on his election and I have every confidence that he and his team will improve on where we succeeded and succeed where improvement is needed. If in the zeal towards a more perfect UNAA, you may have felt left out, I offer a hand of friendship and pray that in the spirit of the UNAA Boston 2016 theme "Together We Stand" we can place the interests of UNAA's members and delegates above our individual interests. God knows they deserve this.
