Acholi MPs, LCV Chairperson camp at police station over MP Olanya's
GULU. Aruu County Member of Parliament Odonga Otto, Gulu Municipality Christopher Acire and LCV Chairperson Nwoya district, Patrick Okello Oryema, have pitched camp at Masindi Central police station, demanding for the release of Kilak County Member of Parliament Gilibert Olanya who was arrested on Monday.
Mr Olanya was arrested on Monday in Pabbo Sub County, Parabongo Parish in Amuru district on allegations of inciting violence in the Apaa contested land between Amuru and Adjumani districts.
He has been in Police Custody since Monday without trial or recording any statement.
In an Interview with Daily Monitor on Tuesday, Aruu County MP Otto said the move [camp] is intended to show their solidarity as leaders from Acholi sub region.
"We have left our comfort zone to camp here at Masindi Police station until Mr Olanya is released. I have bought my two-inch mattress at Shs40,000 and I will sleep in this compound until he is out," he said.
Nwoya LCV Chairperson Mr Oryem, said they had been told by police that Mr Olanya is under safe custody.
"We are seeing many street kids on the street of Masindi town, why are they not given safe custody since they helpless children," he said.
When police spokesperson Mr Fred Enanga was contacted on the matter, he said he was not aware of the latest development since he was busy on other assignments in Soroti District.

The Midwest police spkesperson, Ms Lydia Tumushabe, said they are just keeping MP Olanya in safe custody, adding that his file is being handled in Amuru district.
