{UAH} Politico Uganda: My Thinking
Politico Uganda: This is my thinking:
Yes we want change...and yes we want electoral reforms. We can only achieve one at a go, this is how I see things. Now we need to choose carefully which is easier to achieve.
Kiiza Kizza Besigye-Kifefe and group prefer electoral reforms first, but to be able to achieve this, Museveni and group have to be compelled to get those reforms which is very difficult because he still wants it that way, to give him prolonged opportunity to continue manipulating Ugandan. He has already shown through constitutional amendment that he will not allow any of the reforms as highlighted by the majority of democratic Ugandans.
The majority of Ugandans prefer change, whichever way it comes. We are just tired of Museveni and his bunch of thieves and incompetent puppets occupying offices supported by tax payers. Question is how and who can deliver this much and urgently needed change?
In my opinion both Kiiza Besigye and JPAM can work together and deliver this change. We need or for that matter TDA needs to do a proper calculation here. I propose that depending on political gymnastics, one can be the flag bearer and the other a running mate. JPAM surely will bring a big block of his NRM support to the coalition and we have also seen that even the opposition leaning voters can and will support him. Kiiza Besigye who is the celebrated leading opposition figure will bring the opposition vote...and such a coalition can bring the change we are very eager to have.
However, looking at it another way, these two can decide to go it independently with an aim of denying Museveni and group the required 51% of the vote and even work so hard to deny him the first place, then we go for a rerun...a lot of money will be needed here though because Museveni will be prepared to break into Bank of Uganda to secure a win...and this time we either put the weight behind JPAM or KB depending on who will have performed better than the other.
One thing for sure is we cannot achieve electoral reforms as long as Museveni still controls everything. We can only be able to do that realistically when we have a new government headed by a new president and so many other new political players.
We need change of rulership first before we can be able to change anything.
Regards,
