Comrade Akim Odong,

to fools lik Rugunda and the Uganda High Commissioner to the UK? I
have got far more urgent and better things to do.

Uganda Convention in London attract thousands
By Julius Mbaluto in London

The just concluded fifth Uganda Convention at Troxy, East London
attracted thousands of wealth creators and potential future investors.
The event was organized by Willy Mutenza, the Chairmen in
collaboration with others organizing committee and was graced by many
dignitaries.

The Convention was graced by Rt.Hon.Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, Uganda's
Prime Minister, Her Royal Highness Sylvia Nagginda of Buganda Kingdom,
Her Excellency Prof. Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda, Uganda's High
Commissioner to the UK, Lord Sheikh, Baroness Sandy Verma, Dr. Louis
Kasekende, Deputy Governor Bank of Uganda and many more.

In her opening remarks, Prof Joyce Kikafunda, Uganda's High
Commissioner said that the government of Uganda recognizes and values
highly the significant contribution the Diaspora makes to the
development of their country of origin.

"As you are aware, our vision 2040 aspires that we totally transform
ourselves from a peasant and backward economy to a prosperous, upper
middle income economy to a prosperous, upper-middle income economy in
30 years. This requires total commitment from all Ugandans, both in
the country and outside in the Diaspora."

The whole day event was marked by workshop sessions, showcasing of
different products in the main hall and different speakers addressing
different investment focused themes. The youth were not forgotten as
they also had their own session duped Youth forum addressed by a
panellist of professionals, Nodreen Kiwanuka, Samantha Muhwezi,
Tabitha Laker, Teriy Kiiza and Yahaya Kiyingi who vied for
Parliamentary post last UK's General election on Liberal Democrats
ticket.

The work done by Her Royal Highness Queen Sylvia Nagginda Nnabagereka
of Buganda Kingdom was on display in the main hall manned by officials
from Nnabagereka Development Foundation (NDF). In a statement issued
earlier, she said:
"As we progress in conceptualising the obstacle in the social-economic
development of women, we should endeavour to encourage and support
platforms that raise ambitions especially with trade outside Uganda."

However the spirit of the event was more on networking. This was
captured well by Uganda Convention Chairmen when he spoke at the
opening of the Convention,

"As you all know, business is about relationships, and as I have said,
this is the place to strengthen existing relationships, as well as
form news ones. Some of you may have come with a brilliant idea that
is in search of capital. The person sitting next to you may have come
with capital searching for a great idea, so take every opportunity to
talk to each other."

And indeed, many talked and talked till evening. Those who attending
told Informer East Africa that it was an event well organized and
worth their time. The climax of the day was well organized
entertainment by Radio & Weasle (Good lyfe), DA NEW EAGLES, BOSMIC
OTIM, VJOj and many others.
