{UAH} UPDF soldier, game ranger shot dead in Arua

ARUA. A UPDF soldier and a game ranger deployed at Ajia Game Reserve were on Sunday night shot dead as they pursued an unidentified man who had stolen a gun from them.

Lt Ronald Ovon, the UPDF 409 Brigade spokesperson, said Lance Cpl Albert Okello and Robert Amadra were ambushed while riding a motorcycle.
"The thief broke into the house shared by the soldier and ranger when they were watching football together. Upon return, the two found the gun missing. They started a hunt for the suspect. Unfortunately, the suspect laid an ambush and shot them," he said.
Lt Ovon said no one has so far been arrested in connection with the incident, adding that investigations are ongoing. 
He said the suspect is believed to be a poacher in the game reserve. Ajia Game Reserve is located in Ogoko Sub-county in Arua District.
Bodies of the deceased were taken to Arua Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
