2.On 1st August 1927, Barclays Bank started businesss operations in Kampala, the Royal Capital (Kibuga) of Buganda Kingdom. 88 years ago, Barclays started providing banking and financial services to the people.....at the relevant time, the state of Buganda has power to charter banks and it is Buganda government which chartered Barclays Bank in 1927, including provision of lands in Kibuga, on which the first Barclays Bank was built and established in Kampala.
