{UAH} Age: The jigger itching NRM party - People & Power

In the recent months, the party has been rocked with chilling clash of egos between the old guard and the young generation. And time is now catching up with the party that now finds itself at the cross-roads between the two groups.

When he was invited to give a keynote address, Prof Edward Rugumayo did a quick roll-call, asking those in their 80s to stand up. There was none. Staring at the party's historicals forum, he asked members aged 70-80 to raise their arms. There were eight. Those aged 60-70 were 10. And yet the hall was packed. Rugumayo then requested members aged 20-40 to arise. The uproar, the youthful energy, the oomph and the verve were unmistakable. 

Massaging his grey beard, he said, "That is the NRM generation."
He added, "This is the generation that must succeed the current leadership of NRM.
