Bill Clinton's former mistress has accused presidential candidate Hillary Clinton of enabling her husband's sexual behavior.

In an interview with radio host Aaron Klein, Gennifer Flowers, who claims she had a 12-year relationship with Bill, said that she has accepted her responsibility for having an affair with him.

However, the former news reporter said that the former Secretary of State 'never accepted her responsibility at being an enabler'.

Flowers, 65, also said that discussion of Bill Clinton's love life should play a part in the race for the White House, and revealed that she has more evidence of her relationship with him that she has not released.

'Just because we are women doesn't make our stories less important. Our stories should come back up with the circumstances, with Hillary running. It should come back to the forefront again,' the singer said.

Clinton, who Flowers says is the love of her life, admitted during a 1998 deposition to having a 'one time' sexual relationship with her in 1977.

He previously denied having an affair when the allegations surfaced during his 1992 presidential bid.

The woman who has been called 'America's most famous mistress' said that she has not released all of the tapes she made of conversations with Bill Clinton, some of which became public when she came forward with the allegations.

In addition, Flowers said that she has a safety deposit box with evidence against the former president and has chosen not to make it public because her mother is still alive and in bad health.

'It's something that he (Bill) is aware that I have and it's probably the reason that I'm still around,' she said on the AM970 The Answer show.

Flowers's most recent interview, in which she talked about her upcoming book tentatively titled Men are like Pantyhose: Some Fit in the Crotch And Some Don't!, came as the Clintons celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday.

The political powerhouses both shared their admiration for each other on Twitter just days before Hillary is set to take the stage in the first Democratic debate.

Hillary wrote: '40 years ago, I married the cute guy from the library. Happy anniversary, —you've still got it! -H.'

Bill simply said: 'Seems like only yesterday'.

They didn't say how they were celebrating, and it is not known whether they were together.

Bill and Hillary met in 1970 at Yale University after bumping into each other in the school's library.

After five years together, and one unsuccessful proposal, the pair got married in the living room of their home in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Hillary Clinton, in a 2003 interview, told ABC News' Barbara Walters their meeting was an 'immediate attraction.'

In Living History, Hillary's first memoir, she described how she considered ending her marriage after she discovered Bill was having an affair with Monica Lewinsky.

In the 2003 Walters interview, she said finding out about his illicit relationship was the worst moment of her life.

She said: 'The jury was really out about whether the marriage would survive, whether I wanted it to survive.'

The Lewinsky scandal came amid a larger group of women who said they had sex with Bill Clinton or had been sexually assaulted by him.

In her interview, Flowers also took issue with Hillary campaigning on women's rights.

'Woman's rights. Ha!,' she said.

'Hillary never put up a shingle and worked for her clients and built her clientele. She always got things on the back of her husband. ... I think it's a joke that she would run on women's issues,' Flowers said.
