{UAH} NRM PRIMARIES: BRAVO UGANDANS!
JUSTICE FORUM (JEEMA)
OFFICE OF THE SPOEKESPERSON
PARTY HEADQUARTERS, MENGO KAMPALA
WEEKLY PRESS BRIEFING
(Embargoed Until Thursday October 29, 2015, 11hrs East)
BRAVO UGANDANS!
The nation got alarmed by the wide-spread electoral violence during primaries of the ruling national resistance movement (NRM) this week.
However, we now independently understand that in order to uproot people who, for long, have been used as tools to supervise over the current rot in sectors that directly affect peoples' lives, such as education, health and agriculture, mild violent incidents were inevitable.
We understand that the violence was orchestrated by people's determination to fight electoral irregularities like vote rigging, pre-ticked ballots, ballot stuffing and alterations on return forms. These practices have been perpetrated by similar characters during general elections since 1996 when JEEMA first fielded a presidential candidate.
JEEMA, therefore, congratulates Ugandans who participated in this process for the pro-change spirit they exhibited. It's an attitude that reflects a character of positive nationalism. We urge them to carry forward this courage in the upcoming national elections next year.
However, a great number of questionable incumbents narrowly escaped the people's verdict.
We appeal to all voters in Uganda to vigilantly pursue those remnants and finish the job in the general elections.
NATIONAL RECONCILIATION
JEEMA and our partners in TDA are promoting a process of national reconciliation in the next government of Uganda.
We, therefore, call for leniency toward the losers in NRM primaries. They are welcome in TDA for rehabilitation so that together we make a renewed commitment to serve our motherland, Uganda in a refined approach.
To that effect, the new political slogan across the country is 'Kigalo-Nalugalo Go forward' to symbolize a new hope among the citizenry of our nation.
AMAMA NOMINATION
We invite JEEMA supporters across the country and the general public to participate in the historic procession from Namboole to Nakivubo stadium on Nov 3, when the new president of Uganda, Amama Mbabazi will be nominated and unveiled to the nation.
