The electoral commission of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has postponed the election of party flag bearers for parliamentary seats that were slated for today.
According to the Deputy Chairperson NRM- EC, Mr John Mr Kigyagi Arimpa, the elections were postponed to ensure a smooth and transparent exercise across the country.

"The NRM announces the postponement of the party primary elections which were slated for tomorrow Monday the 26 of October, 2015 to Tuesday the 27th of October 2015 throughout the country….," said Mr John Arimpa in a statement issued on Sunday without giving more details.
The postponement comes in the wake of fears by most aspirants and analysts who foresee a repeat of the 2010 chaos that stained the party.

The NRM pre-2011 elections primaries were characterised by malpractices ranging from ballot stuffing, bribery, rigging and violence that included shooting.
According to the NRM electoral commission officials 11.5 million voters are expected to take part in tomorrow's election. It's expected that tomorrow's results will largely set the pace and tone of the general election expected in February next year.
Analysts predict a stiff competition whose results could be highly contested.
Mr Richard Todwongo, the NRM deputy secretary general, said only members registered in the party's Yellow Book will be eligible to vote and each polling station will have police deployed to ensure security.
