{UAH} Rapper Scarface arrested after BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta
The 44-year-old rapper, whose real name is Brad Terrence Jordan, was in Atlanta to accept the I Am Hip Hop Icon Award, a kind of lifetime achievement award, at the BET Awards. But his celebration was short-lived, as police cuffed him shortly after his acceptance speech.
It turns out there was a warrant out for Scarface in the city over unpaid child support, and the rapper quickly found himself behind bars in Fulton County Jail. As of Sunday morning, he was said to still be incarcerated with a bond set at $482,190.
Scarface first rose to prominence in the late '80s as a member of the group Geto Boys before breaking out as a popular solo artist in the '90s. He has also served as president of record label Def Jam South, and is credited with helping launch the career of fellow southern rapper Chris "Ludacris" Bridges.
