{UAH} Gook: A mobile loo at M7's rally in Luwero

Photographs take specific messages to people, but this photograph reminds me when The Okello's had just taken power, there was so much uncertainty of what will happen in Uganda and many were wondering who the new leaders were.  A rally was organized for the new leaders to address people in a suburb of Kampala. As Ugandans are, they all gathered to wait for the new leaders, and guess who showed up. Ow'Ekityiibwa Bajilio Okello. But here is where Uganda politics get funny some times. On pulling in Bajilio walked to the podium to start speaking, and when people saw his face, they all ran away. The man had such a face that it frightened everyone. And from that running away Kampala became a running away system till when the Okello government fell.  There were times a run was started by a single kid running  and every one followed, now after running 2 KMs one would stop and ask why are we running, and there were no Acholi to run from. It was just a massive pandemic of fear they threw in the city. People would run starting from taxi park and head out on Namirembe road, those on General post office area, would run back down into taxi park. Jinja road would start and run into The Golf course. Ugandans today wonder why all these people pile up to listen to a dictator, some of us actually admire this photograph for when we were in Uganda we did not need so much but to sit and listen to a dictator as these Ugandans are today. To the days we were in Kampala this is actually gold.

 

If there is anything we  need to always teach our children and grandchildren is to make sure they do everything in their power to see that Acholi never ever come back to power.
