It's going to be very fantastic when Pope Francis visits Africa for the first time
in his life as well as in his pontificate. The scene is set everywhere to give
the people's Pope an unprecedented welcome in Kenya, Uganda, and the CAR.
In Kenya all bishops have indeed mobilized an interested population and Nairobi's
very influential Cardinal John Njue has successfully appealed to all to attend the
Papal Mass in Nairobi which may attract close to a million people! And Nairobi's
streets? Will they miss the roll-call? No! Masses of people are already very grateful
to the spirit the Pope has shown in including Kenya on his programme!
Same rhythm for Uganda! French TV has been flashing Archbishop J.B. Odama's
reminder to the world of the Pope's visit to Uganda. As chairman of the Uganda Episcopal Conference, Odama praised the Pope for visiting the country, and hinted very smartly on the Holy Martyrs of Uganda and their tremendous popularity in the country. And that all this will be boosted by the Pope's presence in the country.
Many international news medias have signed contracts to relay the events live all over the globe. And Nnamugongo's Papal Mass with the anticipated more than two million pilgrims in attendance will be the real climax of the occasions. And Kampala's great crowds will not fail to swell to millions to so likely break all records ......
The Holy Father is coming to Africa as a messenger of peace who will encourage mutual understanding between all religions. At the same time he will encourage the African episcopal conferences to continue more vigourously with pastoral action aimed at reaching all peoples. Rome is indeed going to grant more powers to the African bishops to deal with such questions as polygamy, customary marriages, etc..
In spite of the pronounced risks on the trip to the Central African Republic, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims are pouring in Bangui from the country itself and the neighbouring states. Nothing appears to intimidate the faithful.
The pope's trip will bring to Africa multiple good results in all fields. For Kenya and Uganda the card has already been snatched for boost in tourism and all expenditures on the visit will stand as a blessing for very much better awards!
