Candidates in the Rwampara Constituency NRM primaries have unanimously decided to seek intervention of the party secretariat after they disputed the repeated election citing that it was also marred by massive irregularities.

The vote was cast on Thursday afternoon after a heavy downpour in the area especially in Bugamba, Ndeija, Mwizi, and Rugando Sub Counties. Therefore, the partial results only started coming out at Midday on Friday.

The delay was also attributed to massive irregularities especially accruing from ballot stuffing and inadequate materials.

According to Charles Ngabirano who was leading in the race, "The repeated election only turned from bad to worse."

For instance, results from Mwizi Sub County indicated that Ngabirano had 17,000 votes out of the 9,000 official voters (188.8 %) while the incumbent, Hon. Vincent Kyamadidi and other candidates earned no vote on any polling station in the sub county.

In some areas, the ballot papers ran out and the election officials resorted to using exercise book pages as substitute.

"I really want to win but I want to win in the right way. This is just wastage of party resources," Ngabirano said.

The elections were being overseen by NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, Tanga Odoi's Secretary, Irene Achan, who was being helped by police and military officers.

After the candidates disputed the election, RPC Jaffar Magyezi advised Achan and her people to take the results to the NRM electoral commission headquarters in Kampala for further analysis, which they did.
