As nominations continue, one of the presidential aspirants Nasser Ntege Sebaggala has pulled out of the race, a move that his critics have described as "not surprising."
In a November 3 letter written to the Electoral Commission Chairman Badru Kiggundu, Mr Sebaggala said he had decided to withdraw from the race so as to ally with President Yoweri Museveni.
"I Al-Haji Nasser Ntege Sebaggala, a citizen of Uganda, National ID number CM4701210MR1K, a presidential aspirant in the forthcoming elections, am writing to inform you that I have withdrawn as a presidential aspirant in the forthcoming elections; I have decided to ally with His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta," read part of his letter.
Mr Sebagala further added, "I humbly apologise that I will not be appearing before you and your esteemed colleagues today for nomination."
Meanwhile, supporters of successfully nominated presidential candidates braved the heavy afternoon down pour waiting for their respective candidates to address them.
Today's nomination started with incumbent President Museveni (NRM) at 10am, followed by the immediate former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi (Independent) at 11am, Prof Venansius ryamureeba (Independent) at 12pm.
However, Mr Charles Bbaale Lwanga (Ecological Party of Uganda) who was also meant to be nominated at 2pm was turned away over incomplete documents.
Mr Lwanga was asked by the EC to go and fully complete his documents. He said he would report back for nomination the next day (November 4, 2015).
very high education. We can call Obote all bad names we have, but the bottom line remains that he got more scholarships for Buganda than all previous Uganda leaders combined. That includes Sir Edward Mutesa, President Lule, President Binayisa, up to and into Ssabasajja Mutebi. Who all happen to be Baganda leaders." Mulindwa
