MP Gives All His Money To The Poor
In what sounds like the results of the 'Magufuli Effect', Immanuel Kingu, a Tanzanian Member of Parliament has formally requested that all his allowances be directed towards helping the poor.
Since taking office, President John Pombe Magufuli has made near-daily headlines given his practical decisions aimed at cutting down on non-essential government spending.
He started off by cancelling all foreign trips for his ministers. Most recently, the 59-year-old cancelled Independence Day celebrations, asking his country-mates to instead engage in national cleaning activities.
