NITA's five-year revenue projections were; 50 per cent of $8.2 million, $27 million, $41 million, $49 million and $55 million, while the other half would go to the contractor Soliton Telmek (K) Ltd.
"The assumption was that we would generate incomes in six months from the time of commercialisation, but we did not make connections and so there were no funds coming from the Ministry of Finance. To generate revenues, we needed to connect government ministries and departments and also to lease the fibre to private companies," said James Saaka, executive director, NITA.
