{UAH} Ugandan Police And The Law.
This morning at 6am my son went out in the car to fulfill his job responsibilities. He was not so long driving when he was pulled over by a Ugandan police officer, for worn out tires. My son admittedly signed the ticket he was given and respected the officer, taking full responsibility for his mistake. The officer then went onto enforcing that the car had to stay within police custody along with the other eight cars who have been stopped as well. My son was asked to first pay for the ticket and then collect my car. How was my son going to pay for a ticket at 6am in the morning when banks do not open until 9am. The car was not in dangerous condition. Is this a law of Uganda that I am unaware of? The police officer told my son that he doesn't care about the matter being taken further by us filing a complaint as they have their own lawyers and will not lose. I then had to drive out to the car to see if I could reason with the police officer. He also was very impolite and told me to go back to my own country. It is my understanding that we have rights as citizens to receive a fine, go on our way with our vehicle and pay for the ticket in a reasonable time. The tickets say 28 days. Why therefore were we enforced to abide by a law that was dictated by the officer on duty. As I pulled away without permission of the officer he ripped my number plate off my vehicle.
I believe many people are violated against by people's intimidation's and unlawful laws communicated. What I desire to see is a new generation rise up to honor and respect one another, abiding and enforcing laws that are done in a way that is honoring to a persons life. I am working hard to believe in a change, a new Uganda that has true integrity and honor. Will you?
