{UAH} Umume is killing Business with high Traffis
Uganda Government should buy up Umeme and end the power drama that Umeme has become.
If you record how many days in a single month Umeme power is off and you are a business person or company depending on their services then the country is on the road to closing down tens of small and medium scale indutries with low earnings. Starts up have no chance with Umeme power bills.
Alternatively Umeme should be compelled to charge average tariffs in each community caliculated as sum of total consumption bill.
In fact that way Umeme will make more money but all will enjoy equal and quality service!

Power tariffs reduced effective January
Households and kiosk owners will pay Shs651 per unit, down from Shs667.4.
They will, however, pay Shs150 for each of the first 15 units they consume.
This reduction will impact on 700, 000 domestic consumers. Commercial consumers will pay Shs587 down from 604.7 whereas medium industrial consumers will pay Shs567.3 down from Shs544.9 per unit and the large industrial consumers will pay Shs369.4, down from Shs381.1.
The local authorities will pay Shs628.4 instead of Shs630.1 for each unit.
"The tariffs shall take effect on January 1," ERA's chief executive officer Benon Mutambi said in a press statement.
Mr Mutambi, an economist, attributed the reduction of the tariff to the appreciation of the Uganda Shilling against the US dollar and the reduction of the distribution loss target from 18.5 per cent (2015) to 17.1 per cent, the 2016 target for 2016.
As of November, the Shilling has appreciated from Shs3, 658.4 for each dollar to Shs3, 357.1.
