In September, 2015, the Greek Coast Guard began searching 14 shipping containers full of 'furniture'. They found, almost immediately, 5,000 combat 12 ga shotguns and over half a million rounds of ammunition. The containers originated from a port in Turkey and were allegedly headed for Libya, although that remains unclear. It is incredibly easy to ship arms via containers to 'refugees' in the EU because of the number of Ports of Entry all over Europe. A bribe is all it takes to get a container through security. In United States, it is common to only open and inspect 1 or 2 containers out of every 100 that arrive.
