{UAH} Crime promoters here we come :Najjera: Kololo Gardens Boss Attacked Amid Alarming Crime Levels
Ndyareeba in an ambulance to Nakasero Hospital
Ronnie Ndyareeba, the manager Kololo Gardens, is fighting for his life at Nakasero Hospital after being attacked by thugs at the gate of his residence in the crime-stricken Najjera suburb.
The amiable Ndyareeba was thumped with metallic objects, inflicting severe injuries on his head.
He was rushed to Nakasero Hospital by ambulance.
The incident occurred at around 10:00pm.
Crime cases in Najjera, Wakiso District are on a sharp rise, with over 30 cases of burglary, theft and deadly attacks on civilians being reported to police on a daily basis.
A small police post manned by not more than 15 officers manages entire security of the vast fast-developing suburb.
The growing middle class is gradually settling in Najjera, Naalya, Kungu and Kiira suburbs where posh bungalows have been erected.
This has attracted the attention of thugs who waylay their targets at the gates of their residences.
In some extreme cases, thugs enter houses through the roof.
Police officers at Najjera Post told ChimpReports that they have been overwhelmed by thugs in the area.
"Since late last year, we have recorded almost one thousand cases of break-ins and attacks on civilians by thugs," said a cop who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Interestingly, the cop admits, rarely does security apprehend the suspects in the widely spread crime cases.
There are discomforting reports that some of renowned criminals in the area connive with senior police officers for protection, making it difficult to apprehend them.
Gen Kale Kayihura visited the area where he introduced community policing to fight crime.
However, this has not helped the situation as criminals continue to terrorise innocent civilians.
