{UAH} Electoral Commission Stranded As Donor Pulls Out

The Electoral Commission is turning to the government for funding to procure a results transmission kit, 26 days to Election Day, after a major donor pulled out.

This, after the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF) withdrew from an earlier commitment to provide UGX4.5 billion of the UGX9 billion needed to procure the Electronic Results Transmission and Dissemination System.

During the 2011 elections, EC relied on a similar system to transmit results from tally centres at the district level directly to media houses and observers. The transmission is credited for increasing transparency.
