{UAH} MABILIZI AWAKENS THE DEBATE ON THE NATIONAL LANGUAGE
Friends,
1.We know the power of words and language, and It should be possible to learn something from people who cannot express themselves properly in English. But I learned nothing from Mr. Elton Joseph Mabirizi's contributions in the debate!......For what it is worth,he seems a nice guy, and we should probably blame people who have not pushed Luganda to be our national language. If it was, we should have had the debate in Luganda other than English. Mr.Mabirizi is a pastor..so, he should be comfortable with expressing himself in public.I'm sure he will change something in next month's debate. At least, one of the members of the TIC [The Independents' Coalition], Omar Kalinge Nnyago, has promised us a different Mabirizi in the second round.Personally, I don't care if he speaks broken English as long as he manages to put his points forward.
2.While Ms Maureen Kyalya Waluube is not my favorite person on the campaign trail, I'm happy that she stood for the presidency. It will give women more confidence to stand for presidency in a male dominated society. The women's liberation movement (no matter what strange turns it took) after world war II did get men to view women in a different light. Then they helped their daughters.
By the way, have you guys noticed some sort of facial resemblance between maama Mabira and Ms.Kyalya? I would love to see pics of Maama Mabira in her 30s now!
