{UAH} Medical Professions refuse to work till medical facilities are improved
I hope it is not the wish of Medical Practitioners to run down what our great grandparents built to be a proud profession.
Workers Unions is enshrined in Uganda Constitution – freedom of association. Uganda is a signatory and ratified ILO provisions.
Medical Practitioners should deposit 5- 10% % of their salary with the Medical Professions union. In case of a strike such amount in a fixed deposit account or investment in government securities will pay their salaries through an OD from any commercial bank.
We need such action in order to improve medical care in this country. Moreover, private hospitals should be compelled to form co-operatives instead of every medical practiced working independently. It is not beneficial to many to die early due to exhaustion to their committed clients.

Uganda media fraternity should analyze how medical professions and experts can exert pressure on government to improve their working conditions by looking at all laws that can protect the medical profession to remain the pinnacle of all professions.
Uganda medical doctors going by their profession oath should refuse to work if the conditions and working environment do not meet given standards. Which standards are creally writen in the law!
There is a raft of laws that protects them from any litigation ranging from medical profession ethics and working environment which law was recently published by the Ministry of gender in the new vision.
Teachers have a very strong union and I wonder why the medics are an exception. Unions have the ability to wrestle government and politicians on issues that concerns the welfare of the citizens.
Quote me on that one!
