Our beautiful daughter Sophia arrived in Uganda on August 31st. A Bachelor of Medicine, she was going to do an eight week internship at Lubaga Hospital in Kampala. She loved every minute of her stay, the people, the culture, the way of life; it touched something in her.

On October 23rd she left for a roundtrip, with three friends. On the 28th they arrived at their location for the night, Paraa Student Education Center in Murchison Falls National Park. After unloading the car Sophia said she was going to the toilet, a separate building further away. She has not been seen since. We later found out there had been a falling out amongst the friends and they were planning to return to Kampala. This was not what Sophia wanted, on the contrary, she wasn't ready to go home at all, as she had told various friends in Holland.
We believe she ran off. She is a very headstrong, stubborn girl, who, in essence, does exactly what she has in mind.
An extensive search was made over the next days, in the river and on land. She was not found. Local police and park rangers do not believe she was attacked by an animal. No traces were found, therefore no proof of that. A Dutch police team came and searched again, with a drone, without result. The police assumes she fell into the river and drowned, but there is no proof. As they will admit. However, nothing is actively being done in Uganda to find her. We cannot accept this, as no parent would.
As long as the opposite has not been proven we maintain our belief she's alive. We cannot exclude anything and must act accordingly.
We would like to spread the word about her disappearance as wide as possible in Uganda, generate as much attention as possible and multiply the amount of eyes and ears that are alerted to her.

Are you able to help us? Perhaps in sharing this notice and poster with all your members who in turn could share it with as many people as they can think of? Either digitally, or printed and put on a notice board.
If you have good ideas about generating publicity in Uganda, how to reach places where many people gather, please let me know, I'd be most grateful.
