{UAH} CATHOLIC CHURCH WARNS AGAINST SOUNDING WAR DRUMS:
The Catholic Church in Uganda has issued a pastoral letter calling on presidential candidates to among other things not sound war drums. The Church also asked the government to see to it that all necessary steps are taken to ensure that elections are conducted in a just and fair manner.
The letter urges presidential candidates to remain calm and cool, and refrain from engaging themselves in any political violence rhetoric.
"We thank God for the ongoing political campaigns. Although there have been some negative events in some places, the campaigns have gone on quite peacefully, for which we give thanks to God. Unfortunately, some people are advocating for violent elections. This should not happen, and we urge the military and Police to do all they can to preserve and protect the people in peace."

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
---Theodore Roosevelt
