KAMPALA- Kasangati Magistrates' Courts in Wakiso District yesterday set March 17 to hear an application filed by FDC presidential flag bearer Kizza Besigye, who is seeking orders to have the police that has laid siege at his residence kicked out.

However, the fixing of March 17, didn't go down well with one of his lawyers Ernest Kalibala, saying the date is far given the continued siege of his client's home.

Dr Besigye filed the application through his legal team last Friday in which he is seeking orders to be immediately and unconditionally released from his house detention by the security.

Dr Besigye was prompted to file this application following continuous siege of his Kasangati residence by police and other security agencies since election day February 18. Police has to that effect, erected a barricade outside his residence under the guise of 'preventive arrest' until to date.

Further, the police have since blocked Dr Besigye from leaving his home and when he tries to leave, he is arrested only to be returned in the wee hours of morning.
