{UAH} history will remember Besigye as an invaluable asset to Uganda
'Whether Besigye becomes Uganda's President or not, history will remember him as an invaluable asset to Uganda. I am not a voter, but I recognize that much of what we call Museveni's achievements are a consequence of Besigye's pressure.
Besigye has for over a decade provided constant checks and balances that have seen Museveni try to perform. Because of Besigye, Museveni can't take us for granted. We are enjoying some of the fruits of that competition that has lasted years.
If Museveni sat down in reflection, he would realize that he is because of Besigye. 50% of what he describes as his achievements have been brought forth because of Besigye's existence.
If you think this government has been a disaster, it would be total hell without Besigye. If you think it has performed, it would have done less without Besigye.
When I wake up everyday, I get to see Besigye in that light. It doesn't matter whether I support him or not but I am grateful for his unwavering pressure. It's his pressure that gets Museveni working tooth and nail to try and make realistic his many promises.
If you travelled on a pothole free road, realize that it's probably so because Besigye highlighted that. If less money is being stolen, it's probably so because Besigye has cast light unto it.
It is an indirect contribution but one we should be thankful for. To Besigye, I thank you for that sacrifice. I will always salute you as one of my heroes.
On a serious note, the only time I will ever line up to vote is when Mugisha Muntu is one of the Presidential Candidates. Otherwise, I will leave issues of generals to generals.'
