{UAH} KIZZA BESIGYE SHOULD OPT FOR CNSTRUCTIVE ENGAGEMENT

BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CONGRATULATIONS FOR THE VICTORY SO FAR UGANDA
HAS REGISTERED IN THE ONGOING GENERAL ELECTIONS. WE STARTED WITH
PRESIDENTIAL AND PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS LAST WEEK, THIS WEEK IT IS
DISTRICT AND CITY ELECTIONS AND NEXT WEEK IT WILL BE SUB COUNTY, TOWN
COUNCIL, MUNICIPAL AND M MUNICIPAL DIVISION AND CITY DIVISION
ELECTIONS.
THE LAST ONE WILL BE VILLAGE AND ZONE AND ALSO PARISH AND WARD
ELECTIONS IN THE NEXT FINANCIAL YEAR.
It is my humble request that, Dr. Kizza Besigye, who last lost
presidential bid four times, avoids his traditional tactic of
confrontation and experiments that of constructive engagement.
If that tactic bears some fruits, then we may persuade the
predominantly NRM outgoing 9th parliament top revisit the
constitutional amendment which has been around since 2005, allowing
the first run up to automatically become an MP and becomes leader of
Opposition in Parliament.
This is a better arrangement than the government of national unity
that was put in place in Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Sudan, where there
was a crisis and there was none in control.
In Uganda NRM is in control as it has won overwhelmingly presidential
and parliamentary elections and it will do so in local government
elections insha Allah.
Secondly, there is a need for an opposition, as the voice of the voice
less, or as a check and balance.
The Organisation of political parties represented in parliament, the
organisation of political parties represented in parliament and those
that fielded presidential candidates in 2016, and the national forum
for registered political parties, should come out to engage both NRM
ad opposition for this.
To me, this is a better arrangement, than going to courts of law,
where, little is expected.
