{UAH} LAND FUND AND CITY STATUS FOR MASAKA AND WAKISO

Brothers and sisters, l thank the President for promising a solution
to duo land ownership in Buganda between a Mailo and other Freehold
Title owner and a kibanja holder or a tenant.
This was during a press conference he held at his farm at Kisozi in
Gomba District boardering with Ssembabule District on Sunday 31st
January 2016.
He told tenants to pay Busuulu to land owners, and he told land owners
to accept it.
He said that some land owners don;t accept it and use it as an excuse
to evict tenants.
He promised to bring an amendment to the land law, which will allow
the tenants to take such busuulu to gombolola headquarters.
He however on the long run, promised to use the land fund and pay off
land owners.
This was a creation of C.A. which was to be experimented in Kibaale
District, which is partly successful.
The President also used it in Isingiro and some other areas to pay off
Prince Barigye and bibanja holders got land tittles.
It should be the same through the country especially in Buganda. But
we should also ensure that we don;t encourage land fragmantation.
Now that the Presidednt has started campaigning in South Buganda sub
Region or Greater Masaka, starting with Ssembabule and Bukomansimbio
today, we should also remind him a city status for our historiacal
strategic Masaka town.
Leaders should not shy away from this.
l am in Masaka now, and we shall do the same for Wakiso, upon his
arrival in Greater Mpigi.
