{UAH} Museveni voted for by poorest Ugandans

An analysis of the 2016 presidential election results by The Observer has found that President Museveni posted better results in places where the voter turnout was conspicuously high.

At some polling stations the president swept, turnout was 100 per cent, meaning all registered voters turned up to vote. According to the Electoral Commission's (EC) final tally, Museveni scored 100 per cent at more than eight polling stations in Kiruhura district, where all registered voters turned up.

Some of these stations include: Rwamuranda primary school (342), Akaku trading centre (391), Nama primary school (505), Kyanga COU (238), Kigarama primary school (533), Katoma primary school (275) and Rwebishuri trading centre (266).

Since the last update of the voters register in September 2015, these results mean that none of the registered voters at these polling stations died, fell sick or got an emergency of any kind before or on polling day.

The results, which the opposition has roundly rejected and whose validity has been questioned by observers from the European Union (EU) also show that in 11 out of the 98 districts won by Museveni, the voter turnout averaged 70 per cent, which was higher than the national voter turnout of 67 per cent. These districts are: Buhweju, Kaabong, Moroto, Bundibugyo, Bushenyi, Kabarole, Katakwi, Kyenjojo, Kisoro, Kibaale and Kapchorwa.
