{UAH} Ocen, Gook//Osinde Wang'wor passes on

Folks;

Sad news from homeland: Osinde Wang'wor has died.

During Obote 11, Osinde Wang'wor was MP for Tororo South Central, Government Chief Whip and Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office.

He had served as Obote's lawyer while they were in exile in Tanzania in the 1970's.

Following the fall of Idi Amin regime in 1979, Wang'wor returned home and briefly as Director of Legal Affairs at the interim-Parliament, the National Consultative Council.

In the 1980 general elections, he trounced DP's Odoi Chwale to become the MP for Tororo South Central, a massive constituency that has since been split into two: West Budama North, and West Budama South.

Osinde Wang'wor is credited with several development projects in West Budama, among them: Nagongera Teachers' Training College and Mulanda Secondary School.

About three years ago, Osinde Wang'wor and another UPC stalwart, Hajji Bedru Wegulo, defected to NRM. Their defection was, however, seen as a move for financial benefits, rather than political agreement.

On a personal level, Wang'wor was married to my cousin, the daughter of my mother's eldest brother.
