{UAH} Police confirms Mengo grenade blast, 1 dead
The suspected bomb blast occurred outside the Lubiri in Mengo
We are verifying a report of a bomb blast that has rocked Mengo leaving one person dead and others injured.
The blast was first reported by Sadab Kitatta, a political reporter at The Observer.
He said the blast occurred outside the Lubiri aka Mengo palace.
One version of the report says some kids were playing with a rusty stick grenade before it exploded.
A citizen has confirmed that her friend's child lost a leg in the incident.
Police cordons off area
Police has confirmed the Mengo grenade blast and deployed heavily to cordon off the area.
Police deputy spokesperson, Polly Namaye, told Insider on phone that the grenade blast happened at a primary school [not named yet] in Mengo Kampala.
"It's true. We suspect it was a grenade but we must examine it first before we can talk about it," Namaye told us.
She said police has already deployed heavily to secure the scene.
"The DPC and our other teams are already at around the school."
According to Namaye, some school children were playing in the field where the grenade exploded from.
According to the images we saw, one child was lying in a pool of blood-dead.
There is a picture of another older person lying lifeless, its not confirmed if this one is dead too.
