Friends,

I am on dry land!. My journey was less adventurous compared to the Syrians who, unfortunately, are seeking the same situation as myself. A peace haven!. My host welcomed me with such warmth dimming the otherwise, very cold weather. Presently, in all western hemisphere, the weather very cold and it's going to take me a while to get used to it. Otherwise, I arrived to witness a budget presentation which revealed how much aid to be handed by my host country to third world leaders to carry on with the oppression. To the north, I was exposed to the land debate in Scotland where apparently, the whole land in Scotland is owned by just over four hundred individuals and so there is a call for reform; a dejavu; but something we Ugandans could learn from.

My dear friends, there is no need going over the reason why I chose to leave my beloved country and my heart bleeds for you all because I know that if it was possible, all over you would have joined the Syrians and myself for a place of safety and sanity. I urge you not to give up trying because where I am, there is proper rule of law. You cannot continue living by the old adage; "if you cannot defeat them join them", knowing well that it's against your conscience to indulge in the sort of unbecoming ways of brutalising, corrupting and abuse of power and office by our leaders. My call to you is to stand your ground and do not give in to your fears and suffering. Rather for a man to leave or die than indulge in making rotten a country.

My host has suggested that I lay low at the moment while my sojourn is formalised, otherwise, while I abide by that, I will try and connect with our friends in this part of the world who share our belief that the pace of change must not be hindered but guided. I hope we will work out ways to achieve this. It's my belief that through mobilisation and coordination, we will be able to mount a force capable of bringing a positive transformation in our country. The roles played by the opposition cannot be underestimated but the struggle for good governance requires relentless pressure; which means that we should all be ready to take the baton from the hands of those getting weary and carry on with the struggle. It is hypocritical to blame the opposition without lifting a finger. That has no place in our struggle.

Newcastle upon Tyne is a city to the north of England, hence my letter from the north. It a picturesque city and home to St James Stadium the home of Newcastle football club. I suppose, in me, they have found a new supporter. The city is divided into two by The Millenium bridge which curves majestically to the right over the river Tyne. The population is sizeable but the regional dialect is hard to grasp. A bit like Acholi and Alur or Ruyankole and Luganda. The location of the city suits me fine because it's at the border of Scotland and England. This is ideal to farther enhance what is close to my heart for the future of our country. The Fedby20/20 Campaign will benefit enormously from the Scotish experience and I hope to bring awareness of our situation to the people of Scotland and it is my prayer that they will sympathise with our situation in Uganda.

Let me end my short letter by thanking all of you who wished me well. Except for the cold weather, everything is fine and I wish all of you were here with me, where rights and respect is not taken for granted. I call upon you to remain vigilant and be your brother;s keeper until one day when we will see change for the better in our country. I will keep in touch regularly and update you all of any positive progress from this end. I leave you with the words of St Paul to the Corinthians, "Do not be unequally be yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness and what communion has light and darkness?

Stay well!.
