{UAH} BARBARITY OF WAR: EDWARD P'OJIM
Mr EDward P'Ojim,
Take time to listen to this Documentary chronicling the experience of this black woman who served in the USA Airforce, during the Irag and Afghanistan campaigns, operating drones. It is a very unbelievable and extremely sad story, of individuals forced to fight in a barbaric war that sometimes they did not understand themselves. And the way these airforce personel were treated by the military was very callous and cruel at the very least. Here Lynn Hill narrates her experiences of operating drones, shooting down targets, including civilians, and then returning home to her family after her shift as if nothing had happnened. These were people fighting a war, but were being treated as civilians putting a shift in the office and then returning home to their families and children. I have spent time in guerilla zones, but units that have engaged in or are about to engage in military operations where death will occur are not normally allowed to mix freely with civilians and have to undergo deep debriefing after every combat for their own psychological health. In actual battelfied condisitons in Iraq or Afghanistan, I dont think the USA army would allow soldiers to mingle easily with civilians, but why the airforce personel operating drones were excluded from this policy just boggles the imagination. And she also talks about how they selected their targets, in close quarter campaigns, where they would distinguish American soldiers from Iragis because Americans were much bigger because of the heavy equipment they carried on their backs whereas Iraqis only had rifles. She laughs at the myth bandied about that these dromes are "unmanned", saying they are in fact the most "manned" military vehicles of the modern age. She says nearly ALL Ex- Combatants like herself HATE the military. Fortunately for her, she has taken on to poetry and writing, but many of her colleagues suffer from severe mental traumas even 10 years after they were demobilised.
Thank You
