Because of mysterious illegal gun use ,residents in the area have come up openly to criticize their leaders for failure to protect them.
The kasese woman MP Winfred Kiiza has faulted government the problem blaming it for not producing any report about the mysterious deaths.
Because of her demand she was summoned by police headquarters to go and record statement about the utterances but the case died a natural death after police failed to get sufficient evidence to pin her.
Since then to date ,police and army have mounted an operation to hunt for the guns used and over 10 have been recovered in the operation according to the DPC Micheal Sabila Musani.
On several occasion police dogs have been brought to identify the suspects but all in vain as police claims that the scene of crime get tampered with by residents.
SP Musani says that most guns which are suspected to have been used by the killers are of Congo origin and it becomes difficult to trace who used it.
"we have managed to recover over 10 guns since last year and the recent was got last week from mpondwe but no suspect was arrested", Musani told this reporter.
He however blames the problem on residents who conceal information about the people with illegal guns in their areas adding that Bukonzo West is believed to have a racket of thieves who are now killing themselves.
In April this year after the death of Julius Kisembo on march 27th ,the district chairperson retired Lt Col.Dura Mawa Muhindo launched an operation code named 'Fagia Uchafu' meaning clear the dirty where more than 30 people have been arrested and taken to court and they are now on remand.
After that group was arrested people believed that the problem was solved but to their surprise more have been murdered in this month even when it was announced that the criminal were taken away from the community.
'we recovered a camera that was taken from late Amon Thembo and we are to hand it over to his relatives' Mawa told the journalists.
But Moses Muthabali ,the brother to late Amon Thembo denied allegations that his brothers camera was recovered and handed over to them.
"we were called at police that our camera was recovered but we found it was stereo not video but to our surprise we were forced by officers to take it since they had already announced that it was the one; we never took it and its when the police told the widow to make statements one year after the death of her husband", Muthabali told this paper.
However the second division army spokesperson Lt.Ninsiima Rwemijuma when called on phone about the illegal use of fire arms said 'issues of kasese are very difficult to the extent that people have opted to kill each other as they disagree'.
Lt Ninsiima revealed that people the has been a racket of many people in bukonzo west dealing in dubious business and whoever tries to leave is finished for fear the he/she would reveal the secrets.
He added that security in kasese is faced with challenges at the Congo border where there is free entry and exit as many Ugandans cross to congo on a daily for cultivation.
DR Congo being a lawlessness country is still faced with a challenge fire arms in the hands of many citizens that end up in Uganda for wrong missions.
