{UAH} Kashambuzi: Kiggundu/Supreme Court Can't Undo Voters Will
Why Kiggundu and Supreme Court Can't undo Will of Ugandans
[Commentary]
Dr. Kizza Besigye was elected to the presidency by the people of Uganda.
The Electoral Commission (EC) under the Museveni appointed Badru Kiggundu and the Supreme Court don't represent the people of Uganda and must not be allowed to reverse the decision and the will of the people of Uganda.
Dr. Besigye promised during the campaign that he would form a government of national unity which Ugandans had been calling for. Dr. Besigye listens, hears, assesses, consults and takes appropriate decision.
So far his decisions have conformed to the wishes of the people. The people are now calling on Dr. Besigye to implement what he promised; namely forming a government of national unity and beginning to act like he is president-elect which we have not seen.
His cabinet must include people of tested expertize and experience as well as the right character. Meritocracy, not loyalty as in the past, must guide the people he includes in the cabinet especially in the critical ministries of finance, foreign affairs, planning and economic development, minister for 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as the governor of the central bank (a non-cabinet post but very important); the security portfolios including defense and interior are most critical.
Addressing the 83% youth unemployment is a leading priority.
Dr. Besigye must announce ahead of Gen. Museveni. Reacting to Museveni's announcement of his own cabinet will be interpreted as a sign of weakness.
Uganda's ambassadors selected to represent Dr. Besigye's government must also be appointed on merit.
We await president-elect Kizza Besigye's response.
