SV: SV: {UAH} Allan/Pojim/WBK: When MPs bullied Gen Museveni

No, Gook. He had his candidate, strategy and tactics to ensure that the candidate goes through. That is exactly what you would also do?!
He was doing the right thing for his candidate and party.

Should he have done what the opposition to him and his party desired?
Of course not.

Question is, what were you on the opposition gonna do about it? You did have your strategy and tactics too, didn't you?

How was it when the opposition "stole" the elections in Acoli( yes, you read me right, the opposition actually technically rigged the elections in Acoli)?!?!?!?

And there in lies the problem! the president should do what "he feels is right" he should do "what is right!
The laws and traditions are there to guid him if he doesn't know...
Doing things according to " his feels" is what has. Roughy us where we are now.
Stuck with him not knowing what to do but to simply hang on there..till probably fate(?) rescues us all?

When MPs bullied Gen Museveni

Written by Sadab Kitatta Kaaya
President Museveni is known to be a patient, calculative fighter willing to battle for long – as long as he wins.
And yesterday he won the battle to have his favoured Jacob Oulanyah as deputy to speaker Rebecca Kadaga. At 3:20pm, when the results were announced Oulanyah was returned with 300 votes, while his challenger Muhammad Nsereko got 115 votes.
Before the vote, President Museveni walked into  Parliament's conference hall at 11:30am to attend the first sitting of the 10th Parliament. For much of his time in parliament, President Museveni was repeatedly disrupted by opposition MPs.
In a stark display of defiance, many in the opposition demanded loudly that the president releases the incarcerated Dr Kizza Besigye, who is charged with treason.
As The Observer had predicted on Wednesday, Museveni personally appeared in parliament if only to show how badly he wanted to win. But he endured a torrent of provocation from opposition MPs, many of whom reveled in squaring up with an overbearing head of state.
President Museveni addressing MPs at Parliament yesterday
Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze and Nathan Nandala- Mafabi (Budadiri West) were in the lead. At one time,  Nambooze asked loudly in Luganda; "Naye lwaki tota Besigye?" [Why don't you free Besigye], Museveni retorted "naye akkirize eggwanga liberemu emirembe (He [Besigye] should also accept to have peace in the country).
Museveni's presence in Parliament, according to a citation from the Clerk to Parliament Jane Kibirige, was in accordance with Article 82 (10) of the constitution that mandates him to administer the oath of the Speaker.
After that citation, Museveni proceeded to swear-in Kadaga and later gave her a copy of the Constitution, Rules of procedure and the mace; the Speaker's instruments of power. With Kadaga firmly in her seat and Museveni seated nearby, the opposition MPs unleashed another attack.
MPs Jimmy Carter Anywarach (Padyere), Elijah Okupa (Kasilo), William Nzoghu (Busongora North) and Mafabi took turns raising procedural points. They queried Museveni's presence in the House.
"We wanted to build confidence among our new colleagues especially those in NRM that the president can be challenged," Mafabi told The Observer in an interview later.
When the disruptions intensified, Museveni whispered to Kadaga before excusing himself from the hall to allow voting to continue. He moved to his office behind the Parliamentary buildings and returned immediately after voting to witness the tallying of votes.
"Our intention was to show Museveni that times have changed; he should know that it will not be business as usual business," Kawempe North MP Latif Ssebaggala said.
Jacob Oulanyah being congratulated by fellow MPs soon after he was elected deputy speaker
Ssebaggala was a lead campaigner for Nsereko and his candidate's score of 115 votes fell 85 short of the targeted 200. MPs Florence Namayanja (Bukoto East MP), Allan Ssewanyana (Makindye West) and Ibrahim Kasozi, (Makindye East), took the lead in loudly chiding President Museveni for giving MPs Shs 5m last week to persuade them to vote for Oulanyah.
Other MPs followed suit reminding the president about his Shs 2.8bn inauguration ceremony. Though he ignored Namayanja, he was jolted by the mention of the Kololo expenditure on his inauguration day, May 12. Museveni then retorted; "Kololo was a national function but these MPs fail to understand."
The president got more hecklers when he warned MPs against corrupt tendencies. On hearing this, more MPs mentioned the Shs 5m he gave to NRM MPs.
"Now hear these MPs, they are talking about the money I gave MPs...I must try to rescue my MPs. I know the pressures they are having..." Museveni said.
Another MP at the back shouted that the president had further given the MPs another Shs 5m yesterday morning. Kadaga tried calming the House to no avail. She cited the Rules of Procedure but some MPs said it was Museveni provoking them.
"Our intention was to liberate our colleagues who think that it is impossible to challenge Museveni and we intend to use this Parliament to put the government on record for its wrongs," Nambooze said.
Though her candidate of choice lost, Nambooze claimed the opposition made some gains.
"We achieved what we intended because for example, we got Museveni to admit that he bribed MPs to vote for Oulanyah and through the persistent reminders of the bribery, we got him to abandon his prepared speech," Nambooze bragged.
Museveni said the money he gave to NRM and NRM-leaning Independent MPs does not qualify to be called a bribe "but was just to help them cope with society."
Museveni also spoke in defense of Oulanyah knocking down suggestions that the deputy speaker is his puppet.
Said the triumphant president: "If you are looking for a person who is not a puppet, then Oulanyah is the man."
