Security officials in Dokolo District have issued a warning to all schools and health centres in the district of possible terror threats against the facilities.
This follows security intelligence that terrorists are planning to cause mayhem in the eight districts that make up Lango sub-region.
During a security meeting held in Dokolo Town on Monday, the district police commander, Mr Aminsi Kayondo Lukanga, reportedly urged the head teachers and administrations of health centres to ensure children and health workers put on uniform for easy identification.
The district security committee chairperson, Ms Susan Akany, confirmed the development, adding that suspected terrorists have threatened they will target public places.
"We call upon all the head teachers and in-charge of health centres to be very vigilant on strangers that appear at their premises during this moment as the issue of insecurity is high on the agenda," Ms Akany, who also doubles as the Resident District Commissioner, told Daily Monitor on Monday.
All public institutions have been advised to establish security committees, put in place metal detectors and maintain records of visitors.
