{UAH} Dr BESIGYE UNDER CAPTIVITY
Erias Lukwago
fACEBOOK.
Today morning, Hon. Ssemujju Nganda and I paid a visit to our brother,
Dr. kizza Besigye at Luzira upper prison. I was extremely disheartened
to see him clad in a yellow uniform and being subjected to such
dehumanising and humiliating treatment. He decried the deplorable
conditions as the prison is inordinately congested. The capacity of
the said facility, that was constructed by the colonial administration
in 1927, was supposed to be 600 inmates but they are over 3000 now. We
had a chat over a wide range of national issues, details of which I
may not be in position to divulge on this platform but he appeared to
be strong, resolute and steadfast.
